While mining deeper into the mountain, the people of Pelolia unearth a settlement of mothkin. The sentient beings greet them with curiosity and a mutual understanding is established. It would take several years to fully integrate into Pelolian culture but the people welcome their knowledge of living underground with open arms.
The people of Pelolia attempt to defend themselves in their nearby mines. When it becomes clear that they will not survive, the decision is made to craft a runic vault door, sealing the dangers away but also cutting themselves off from the outside world.
With little knowledge of how to thrive on a subterranean diet, the city struggled. Rationing became the norm for life in the caves and healthier citizens were urged to go days without eating. It became clear that their food supplies would not last and soon even rationing would not sustain them.
With the wall and gate in place, the citizens of Pelolia begin to move out of the vault and into the lands they've called Aufield. Those first venturing out call themselves Li’ah, the people.
After hearing voices outside the vault door, the people of Pelolia finally open it to watch in horror as the Kafervolk Caravan marches away.
