Summer Camp #4
Despite having a good few hours where I can work on things I am really struggling today. This is the best I could manage. Still, half-way to eight articles is not bad.

Well, now the second correctly done article for Summer Camp is done. A Love Story, Prompt #4, Kami no Futari no Uta: the God-mother and the Warlord. I also went back and reset the date on Qymaen jai Sheelal and resubmitted it to Prompt #1. It seemed to be important that I do so, so I did so. That's 2 in the bag, and 1 on the ground. Not sure if I'll copy my work from Gekikō‑butai into a profession article for the Job Children want prompt or just count it as a bonus... happy accident.

R&Q Issue #4 & Legend of the Silver Blade : Chapter 7 are Live!
Greetings, Twilight Seekers!
This week in the Scriptorium was a battle of the "Gears." I conducted a climatological audit of the Five Seas that nearly broke my naval routes, but the resulting "dissonance" led to something better: the discovery of the Orfian cliff-dwellers and a finalized, "Gregorian-offset" calendar system.
Inside this update:
What do you do when the physics of your world fights your history? You build a better lie.

The Archives Open to the Sea | Raven & Quill #4
The static silence of the Omnium is behind us. This week, we hit the open ocean.
Chapter 2: In the Wolf's Shadow is LIVE.
In this chapter, we step aboard the HMS Sea Wolf with Talathis Dawntreader. He is a pilot who steers not by the compass, but by the "Howl"—the acoustic song of the ship's rigging when it hits harmonic resonance.
New Lore: The "Race-Built" Frigate Alongside the chapter, I’ve released a deep-dive article on the Sea Wolf itself. I tackled a specific worldbuilding challenge: How do you have advanced naval combat in a fantasy world without making gunpowder ubiquitous? The answer involved "Aeolian Rigging," Klash-kal alchemy, and a hull built to deceive.
Come check out the specs and let me know what you think of "Flintlock Fantasy" without the flintlocks!

My idea from two weeks ago to check total entries to each category every week didn't last, mainly because I had a migraine last weekend and formatting a table and doing data entry were simply not going to happen. Seeing as I'm feeling much better this weekend, it seems a great time to compare some numbers!
Before that, a quick PSA for competitors:
If you're submitting any WE articles to special categories, I highly recommend turning state indicators off. If you submit an article to a category, then make that article a draft or private, it will unsubmit from the category and prevent you from resubmitting that or any other article to it. The state indicators, as helpful as they are, also make it incredibly easy to do this by accident and lock yourself out of an entire category.
I unfortunately can no longer submit my ethnicity article on VI Culture for this reason, and I hope the warning may help prevent the same from happening to others ❤
Now, back to numbers!
Below is a table of current counts (December 21, 1pm EST) compared to prior counts (December 6, 10pm EST).
Previously, the five most popular categories were within 10 entries of each other. That has significantly changed. Character is still the most popular category at 74, but Species is now a distant second at 58, followed by Organization at 50. Settlement is still #4 at 45 entries, but Building is now behind both Natural Law and Geography.
The categories with the most meaningful change are Technology with a 300% increase and Document with a 375% increase.
| Template | Count | Template | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Building | 20 --> 37 | Natural Law | 15 --> 41 |
| Character | 27 --> 74 | Organization | 22 --> 50 |
| Condition | 12 --> 27 | Plot | 6 --> 14 |
| Conflict | 9 --> 23 | Profession | 8 --> 19 |
| Document | 8 --> 38 | Prose | 9 --> 25 |
| Ethnicity | 8 --> 19 | Settlement | 20 --> 45 |
| Geography | 14 --> 41 | Species | 23 --> 58 |
| Item | 12 --> 39 | Technology | 6 --> 24 |
| Language | 10 --> 23 | Title | 8 --> 28 |
| Material | 6 --> 21 | Tradition | 11 --> 36 |
| Military Formation | 6 --> 22 | Vehicle | 8 --> 20 |
| Myth | 11 --> 28 | Total | 279 --> 752 |
I've so far completed articles in 6 categories, though not all are submitted. I've several more in various stages of drafted, but with just two weeks left, I might need to do some prioritizing. I still have scavenger hunt clues to place, after all!

First and foremost, let me give a great big congratulations to GM Drake for writing such an outstanding article that it became the measure against which all others in its category (#37, Document, An Important Announcement from One to Many) were held, The First Global Broadcast of the CSS ft. Dusty Runeshine.
Along came Dimi and gave us two more prompts, right at the end of the month-long journey that is World Anvil Summer Camp. And because we are
we wrote them. All of them. All 42 of them.
We wrote until our brains were numb. We wrote until the words dribbled out of our bleeding fingertips. We wrote way too late at night, and way too early in the morning. We wrote in the interval of shows. We wrote in the park, and in the hotel, and in the car. Some of us even wrote on the plane, and in the loo, and in the bath.
But in the end, we got it done: a bare minimum of 12,600 new words in our world-building projects. And for that monumental achievement...we deserve this digital doodad.
