The Blood King
A Powerful Mage-King known as "The Blood King" rose to power in the wake of the Sundering. After many years of war and ruin, he empowered a magical treaty forcibly invoking peace between the major powers at that time. A terrible fate befell those that violated the sanctity of this peace or the borders written in on the map in his blood.
Part of these borders protects the area around Mysthaven as a political demilitarized zone of sorts and as unclaimed territory.
After the Blood King's Peace went into effect, his identity was obfuscated from the minds of his subjects. The power of his peace is fading and the king has been missing for nearly 50 years...
