Undying

The undying are reanimated dead and stand out in contrast to typical undead. These creatures still retain some semblance of who they were before they died. Neither fully dead nor fully alive, this species appeared after the cycle of life and death was broken.

Biology

Undying have the same bodies that they had in life. They can eat and drink, but there’s no benefit to them whatsoever. Many continue to do so to help them maintain a sense of normality. As time goes on, undying continue to decompose; many carry herbs or pomanders to camouflage the smell.  

History

Undying appeared after the Sundering. Initially, people reacted with horror when their loved ones rose from the grave; many were turned away from their homes by people who had only buried them hours before. As time went on, undying became more of a taboo than a terror, and they are now accepted if not entirely welcomed in most societies.
