Traveling Song

Song and prayer

  Sung to a Marching Pace:
In every town, in every place, There is a piece of heart’s embrace. The horizon calls, it sings my name, But in the stillness, I feel the same.
Oh, how I’m drawn to distance shores, Where the ocean’s roar envelopes me. Every path I tread, every sky I see, Call me far from where I began. In the stillness of the night, My heart aches from what I left behind, But in the music of the dawn I’m lured once more to the open place.
To see the sun in foreign lands, Feel its sacred sands, I’ve danced beneath the Northern Lights, And felt the warmth of tropic nights. I’ve heard the songs from distant lands, And felt desire at countless hands.
But with as each sun has come to rest, The ache returns within my chest. The stars above, they know my name, They’ve seen me search, they’ve felt my pain. But no matter where I lay my head, I’m haunted by the road instead.

Oh, how I’m drawn to distance shores, Where the ocean’s roar envelopes me. Every path I tread, every sky I see, Call me far from where I began. In the stillness of the night, My heart aches from what I left behind, But in the music of the dawn I’m lured once more to the open place.
